CD-ROM Interactive storybooks

I would like to pose this question to the listserv for your reactions.
Does exposure to interactive CD-ROM books encourage reading and improve reading
 skills among early elementary age school children?  I've done a literature
serarch and not much research is available on this topic.  I would like your
reactions.  Thank you.  I would be glad to target the responses.
