Hi,

I have been asked to look into the possibility of setting up a computer
system that would allow remote users (via modem) to preview computer software
while online. The system would allow callers to work with the software
but would not allow copying or downloading of the software.

Have you ever run across such a system? If not, do you think this idea is
feasible?

There are several areas of concern, such as:

1) Users would have no software manuals to look at,
2) Special proprietary software would have to be used on both ends to
enable full screen graphics,
3) Remote users would have to use 28,800 bps modems to access programs at
an acceptable speed (or at the very least 14,400 bps).
4) The client software would have to support transferral of remote mouse
commands to the host (I'm not even sure this is technically possible).
5) Both DOS and MAC would have to be supported by the system.

I would appreciate any input from anyone reading this message. Please
send directly to: noe@tenet.edu.
