Power PC

Is anyone out there close to the Apple situation with the Power PCs that
come out this week?  I have heard them referred to as being able to run
DOS applications and that they are much faster than any previous models.
Our school is interested in buying a Quadra 660 AV and have heard that the
price on the Power PC equivalent of it is going to be priced vary similarly.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
