Quadra 660AV

My school  bought a Quadra 660AV about a month ago.
(unfortunately, now that the power PC is out, I hear the
660AV is not being produced any more!).  It's a great
machine, but we're really disappointed with the clarity of the picture
when we use a large-screen TV as the monitor. There's a flicker-free
setting, but the image is difficult to look at for very long
(parts of it seems to almost *flow* before our eyes).
The whole point of buying this model, was to avoid using an LCD panel,
but, judging by the quality of the picture on the large screen, we may
have to purchase that as well.

I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem, and what
suggestions you may have.
