TARGET--> Library Materials Cost Increases Please respond to me at: pmilbur@ctp.org Dear LM_NET Colleagues, Our Chico Unified committee of school librarians is preparing to make a report to our school board, on the status of school library programs in the district. We are trying to update some figures that were presented in our report made to them six years ago. In 1988 Emergency Librarian reported some comparison cost figures for library materials. These figures were gathered by Kent Halstead, of the Office of Educational Research and Improvement (Department of Education.) Items were compared for their increase in costs from 1975, through 1980 and 1985. Items covered were: hardcover books for elementary and secondary, mass market paperback books for elementary and secondary, plus audiovusual materials (16mm film, sound filmstrips, microfilm.) Question: Does anyone have an update of these figures? Please report to me personally, at this address: pmilbur@ctp.org I will post the results to the group, as a HIT--> Thank you for your help, Peter ..............................................................
