media specialist role in assessment

     Can anyone help me find information on the role of the media
     specialist in performance assessment or authentic tasks?

     I am a research assistant at a regional eduational laboratory and we
     have a staff member who has been asked to do a presentation on this
     very subject to districts in our region.  I think the focus is on the
     media specialist's role in helping classroom teachers design or
     implement performance assessments or even designing or implementing
     assessments on information retrieval and technology.  So far, and ERIC
     search has turned up nothing.

     Any suggestions?  In desperation......
