Your response illustrates a classic dilemma in public education--
the public wants change until the schools start to change. A good example
is the demand for more cooperation and the development of team work
skills--a thrust coming from business and industry [to whom we are told to
respond] but many schools face difficulties implementing cooperative
learning, in spite of its rich research base and proven results.
