Greetings from West Virginia! I am a new college librarian creating a class entitled "Technologies and the Library" as a part of a library science minor for future library media specia- lists. I am asking for your suggestions concerning what "technologies" should be included. For example, of the "older" technologies, is it still useful to know how to operate a filmstrip or slide or 16mm projector? Considering the new technologies, would it be wise to present an overview of what is out there and to provide as much "hands-on" as possible? Can one assume that most of the school libraries out there use some type of "new technology" and what that might be? Since I have never been a library media specialist, I am not sure what tech- nologies to concentrate on or how to advise the students about what to expect upon graduation. LM_NET is a *wonderful* reference tool and I have learned many things so far. If you would like to respond to this quesry, my address is U5359@WVNVM.WVNET. EDU or U5359@WVNVM.BITNET. Thank you, in advance for taking the time to respond. I will also pass along any words of wisdom you might have for the next generation! Nancy Sloan Fairmont State College Library Fairmont, WV 26554
