Wanted books with positive roll models

A friend of mine is in graduate school and is looking for fiction titles
that model positive problem-solving behavior; books that promote peaceful
solutions vs. violence (peer mediation, etc.)  Grade level (preferred) is
Middle and High School.  Books that deal with feelings are related but
that is peripheral.

The only title she has found, so far, is:  Stick and Stones and Skeleton
Bones by Jamie Gilson.

All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Reply to me, Linda Sweeting,
sweeting@umd5.umd.edu and I will pass along your answers to my friend.  If
enough people indicate an interest I will post the list to all,
otherwise,  I'll just send the titles to those who express interest!
