State Requirements for Media Specialists

        I am looking for information on various state requirements for school
library media specialists. I am interested in a comprehensive list and/or
individual state requirements.

        Part of the reason I am seeking this information is that I am
graduating with my M.A. in Library Science this summer. I have concentrated my
coursework in Youth and Children's Services with my goal being that I would
enter the school library.

        However, I recently discovered that the Arizona requirements were
changed so that a state endorsement now requires a school library practicum,
teaching certification, and one year of teaching experience. While, I can`t
argue that this is probably all important experience for a media specialist, I
wasn't expecting to have to wait this long to work as a media specialist.

        Therefore, I am very interested in what other states or even school
districts are looking for in a library media specialist. All information will
be appreciated and I will post a target if I get quite a bit of different
answers.
