Retrospective Conversion?

What are the important technical aspects to address in preparing the
shelf-list cards for retrospective conversion by a vendor (i.e. one
shelflist card should list duplicate titles so that you are charged only
one time).  We would welcome any helpful hints (i.e. how do you handle
duplicate titles which might be classified with different Dewey numbers
and author letters?)  Have any of you opted to have a retrospective
conversion vendor re-catalog your entire collection?
