I know this tale by several names, but the only one I can think of right now
is "It Could Always Be Worse".  I did a version of it for a storytelling
class, setting it in a crowded urban neighborhood and having a neighborhood
sage tell the distraught man to take all the neighborhood cats, dogs and the
local rock band into his small apartment.
