Have any of you had any experience with version 4.0 of Microsoft Works for the Mac? We bought a multiple site license and are mostly using it on Power Mac 6100's. I really like the bells and whistles of this version but we are experiencing sporadic lock up problems with these computers. Microsoft denies there is a problem. We have it on a few other machines (Classic II and an LC475 and have had a few lock up problems on those machines but less than on the power macs. It is strange in that some machines lock up all the time, others lock up rarely, and a few don't seem to experience the problem. When they lock up you lose whatever file you have been working on unless you have saved recently. It is very frustrating to try to convince students that computing is easy when you have to deal with these problems. We also have an annoying but harmless situation with a folder in the trash each time you start the computer. The folder is labeled "Items rescued from Macintosh HD" Another bug no doubt. Sometimes you can retrieve your lost file after a lock up from this folder but most of the time it contains about 10 file fragments. I did contact the two lm_netters who were listed as helpers on Works but they were unable to respond to this. I would welcome any answers. Alan Olson, Media Specialist Washington High School P.O.
