Particular book title?

A teacher is searching for a book he remembers from his teenage years.
He says it is about four kids in a camp or juvenile detention place who
steal a jeep to prevent people from illegally hunting buffalo.  He thinks
the title has the word beasts in it.  Anyone know of such a book?
