attracting students

I have recently taken over the position of media specialist in a middle
school of 650 students.  The same limited group of students seems to use
the media center.  I want to promote it to the rest of the students and
have thought about having some type of contest which would encourage
non-users to come into the media center during their free time.  Does
anybody have any suggestions?
