Recently there was a discussion on Lm_Net re certification for school media specialists. Not to belabor the point, but I would like to ask a relevant question: Is Illinois the only state that has K-12 as its certification, as opposed to a choice of K-8 or 6-12 for other subjects? I could never see myself in an elementary school library (I was once and was very ill-equipped); it seems that library science should be treated equally to other subjects if weare to be considered professionals. Do others feel this way? Please respond to me directly and I'll post a hit if there is enough interest. David Riley Loyola Academy Wilmette, IL
