REF-HIT->celeb decapitation

        Many thanks to all netters who answered my query about a celebrity
decapitated in the 60's in an auto crash.  I received 50+ responses with about
95%  of them saying Jayne Mansfield (actress)--killed in Texas or LA when her
Cadillac convertible went under a truck.  Her children and husband survived.

        One respondent stated :there's no such thing as useless information.(!)
This question was prompted by a health teacher colleague viewing a video on self
esteem where the topic was raised.

        Other responses received were : James Dean, Mamie van Doren, Gina
Lollabridgida(sp?)

        I found no reference to the question in Current Biography.  But I'm cert
 ain
the NY Times and magazines in that period would have the story. Au revoir a
