I have been perusing the Sept. issue of the ASCD Update (monthly newsletter) and came across a couple of exciting opportunities for the library media community to share their expertise with the broader educational community. One is called, "What Are Your Views on Current Issues?" (p. 3) The editor is soliciting brief articles (250 words) on some current critical issues and two of these are the "Information Superhighway" and "authentic learning". You write such wonderful pieces for LM_NET . . . why not share some of this with the ASCD membership? Deadline is OCtober 15th. Also, they are calling for folks to submit documents for their Curriculum Exhibit, to be held at their annual conference (San Francisco, Mar. 25-28, 1995). They are looking for "courses of study or other noncommercial instructional materials . . . new and innovative exemplars are preferred." This would be a great opportunity for us to provide examples of integrated units which effectively demonstrate information skills as a process approach, and the use of information technologies. These were taken from the ASCD Update, vol. 36, #7. Marjorie Pappas Library Media Program Advisor Wright State University Dayton, OH email: MarjorieP@aol.com phone: 513-873-3282
