Date sent: 5-SEP-1994 15:04:45 thank you to everyone who responded to my query. Several people asked for results. Her3e are most of them. One of two got lost in moving them. Michele, I don't want to seem like I'm "blowing our own horn", but please don't overlook two Wilson Catalogs: Senior High School Catalog (SHC) and Fiction Catalog. The Index section of both books has subjects for general time periods of American history, eg. "Frontier and pioneer life" and specific times under subheads of United States-- History-- . SHC uses Sears as a base for its subject headings, while Fiction uses its own list, but it is loosely based on Sears. Fiction catalog doesn't break works out by grade level, but I think you'll see alot of familar books. BTW: Your request was phrased just right. Dan Robinson Editorial Specs Specialist dan@info.hwwilson.com Hi Michele. As a former US History teacher I recommend this book: An Annotated Bibliography of Historical Fiction for the Social Studies by Fran Silverblank, Kendall Hunt Publishing Company, 1992 and sponsored by the National Council for the Social Studies. I also compiled my own list of books based on sources from textbooks etc. if you want me to mail it to you. Janet Woodward . Are you familiar with Elizabeth F. Howard's America as Story: Historical Fiction for Secondary Schools and Dickinson's American Historical Fiction by Virginia Brokaw Gerhardstein? If not, please let me know and I will provide citations.
