Library Power Director Position
Wake Education Partnership
Raleigh, NC

If funded by the DeWitt-Wallace Readers' Digest Fund, the Library Power
Project in Wake County will accomplish major public education reform efforts
already underway through significant changes in school library media centers
and the working relationships of all who are affected by those centers.
Qualifications include significant experience in directing a project of
similar magnitude; excellent management and communication skills; experience
in public education, and library services; experience at collaborating at
the highest levels with agencies such as boards of education, community
organizations, legislative bodies, etc.  Project Director must be able to
function as a member of a team and willing to do all manner of tasks.  The
Wake Education Partnership has a core staff of six plus special project
coordinators from time to time.  The Project Director will work closely with
teachers, principals and school system administrators and other staff as
well.  Computer experience is required.

The Wake Education Partnership will be notified regarding approval by the
edn of September.  If approved, the program will begin in early October,
1994.  This will be a full-time position of the Partnership.  The Library
Power Project Director will work under the supervision of the president and
will hire and supervise two Library Power staff.

The Project Director will be responsible for mobilizing resources necessary
to achieve the mission and goals of the Library power Project.  Duties and
responsibilities include: project coordination, school site coordination,
advisory council management, fiscal management along with Partnership
financial manager; monitoring and evaluation, and other related duties as
requested by the president of the Partnership.

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Benefits include
health insurance, retirement after time of service requirement is met, and a
