Telnet to dra.com Try it! > Ellen Berne > The Winsor School > Boston MA 02215 > eberne@a1.mec.mass.edu > LC on DRA.COM is nice, but it is not the complete LC database. It is also not updated as often as LC. There is more to LOCIS than books. There is also access to Federal legislation, Copyright information, Braille and Audio, Organizations, and Foreign law. While most systems use "marc" to obtain the MARC display, LC uses > "edit." Go figure. > > Happy cataloging, > Ron Bettencourt Remember, Locis was really designed for the LC catalogers. Public access came later. "Edit" probably meant exactly that, the command to edit a MARC record. If you look at the MARC format on LOCIS, note that LC uses a strange format. It groups the subfield letters after the indicators, then runs the subfields together, separated by "#" marks. Dan Robinson Editorial Specs Specialist H. W. Wilson Company dan@info.hwwilson.com
