A laugh & a cry

Here's the laugh:  Thismorning I told a group of students in the high school
library that they should celebrate Banned Book Week by checking out something
to read.  A few minutes later a girl asked me where the music books were.  She
thought I said "band", not "banned".  She was not the only one!

The cry:  Please don't even think of dividing the net.  I think the
cross-fertilization of ideas is what makes it so wonderful.  I'm interested in
all kinds of libraries, not just the kind in which I work.  Barbara Tope,
