ELEM: Bibliography? - On my own?

Colleagues:

I need your help with a bibliography.  Every year I have a third grade
teacher who wants her reading group to read books about children who do
things on their own.  The only example she has ever given me are the Billy
and Blaze books!  Since third grade students' reading levels can range from
the Easy books to more difficult chapter books, please send me any
suggestions you can think of to:

Katy and the Big Snow
The Boy Who Held Back the Sea
My Side of the Mountain
Maniac Magee
Island of the Blue Dolphins
