I posted the original message about the TV turnoff for the week. My intention was not to say there are no good things on TV worth watching. Rather, it was to focus attention on some other creative, academic, personal activities that we no longer take the time for because we are in the habit of turning on the tube. I also wanted to encourage teachers /library media specialists to join in Count on Reading and thought that the TV turnoff week would be a good time to launch the program, if you have not already done so. Of course TV literacy is essential, and our business is indeed all information sources. But this TV turnoff for one week might be an opportunity for our students to discover something new to do with their free time. ShellyBell@AOL.com (Shelly Senator)
