I had an idea: how about convincing library and school architects to design media centers with trap doors under the reference desk? The trap doors could lead to smoke-free incinerators. It's a labor-saving device--you could nudge books into the trap door with your toes while doing other work! And it's a P.R. tool--parents and teachers wouldn't see you destroying stained, dogeared books with titles like "Inside East Berlin" or "The Eight Planets!" If the incinerator were designed properly, it could also dispose of old cd-roms (though these make great coasters if you tape over the holes), 5.25" floppy disks, etc. ============================================================= Karen G.
