I've just stumbled on a partial autobiography by Roald Dahl at my local Barnes & Nobles bookstore: _Going Solo_ Penguin Books, 1986. paper ISBN 0140103066 $9.00 the cover says "Continguing the story begun in _Boy_ so there must be at least one preceding title. _Going Solo_ covers about 4 years, but boy what years. It starts in 1938 when he went to work for the Shell Company in Dar es Salaam, Tanganyika (now Tanzania) as a very young man. Then World War II broke out and he trained as a fighter pilot for the R.A.F. and fought in Greece and North Africa. This book ends in 1941 when he is invalided home to Britain. He has some wonderful tales of his experiences in Africa. It's a great read. I picked it up because of my interest in WW2 flying (it was in the Aviation section). Only after I got it home did I realize just _who_ the author was! If anyone knows of a following title that covers his experiences during the rest of WW2, please let me know. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Melissa Davis Librarian Splendora Middle School Splendora I.S.D.
