Credit Card Origin

        Dear LM_NET:
I would like to inquire if anyone out there knows the name of the person
who is credited with the idea or concept of the credit card.  We do know
bits of information on this topic. Information like;  Bank America
provided the first credit card in 1950's. Also we know Bankamericard was
the name given to the first credit card.   We do have
the name  Ralph Scheider but we are not clear whether or not he is credited
with this.  Thank you in advance
