This comment is not intended to flame anyone, but rather to state a
personal opinion.
While being cautious about names of students with pictures on home pages
seems to be prudent, I believe that it shows the fundamental problem with
schools and society in general. We hear about one case of some wacko
connecting with a child on the internet and everyone goes ballistic. Then
the same people get into cars and drive down the street. If you are worried
about children on the internet, the odds of that are so small as to be not
worth mentioning. But then we turn around and do a high risk behavior like
put children in cars or let elementary children play pee wee football.
Basically, educators and people in general need an in depth class in risk
assessment or statistics.
