The ICONnect Task Force of the AASL is proud to offer several
mini-grants to all school librarians.

ICONnect is a national initiative to get students, librarians and teachers 
connected to
learning using the Internet.

The mini-grant application includes these questions:

Purpose:  To encourage school library media specialists to take a
leadership role in identifying and using Internet resources to develop
meaningful curriculum connections.  Exemplary units will be posted on the
ICONnect home page and gopher for disemination.

Eligibility:  Collaborative teams of AASL members with classroom teachers.

Timeframe:  Final date for submission is December 31, 1995.  Grants will
be announced at mid-winter meeting 1996.

Grants:  $500 to be used for support to travel to a state or national
conference to gain new insights and have the opportunity to share your ideas.

Selection Criteria:  Mini-grants will be awarded based on creativity,
clarity, and completeness.  Media specialists must work in collaboration
with a classroom teacher.

Review Committee:  Three members of the ICONnect Task Force will review
and select the winners.

Application Content:  Write a one page description of the curriculum unit
including the content area, grade level, essential questions, information
needed, duration of the unit, whether it is a small group or full-class
activity and a description of the student end products.  On a seperate
page list the Internet resources, how to access them (FTP, telnet, Web
site etc.), other resources used (print, CD-ROMs, databases, etc.).
Include samples of student end products.
