The problem is the disk reading heads are out of alignment.
Solutions:
1. Take it to a man who will either fix it or replace it, at considerable cost
2. Initialise a blank disk on it and see if it will do so and if so will it
read that disk again and again
3. Decide whether you can cope with the LC being able to read those disks only
4. Try the disks formatted on that machine and see if another will read them
5. Decide whether you can cope with that
6. Buy an external disk drive and use that

I would do these in the order 2,3,4,5. Then I'd cost out 1 & 6 and compare
with buying a new model, perhaps re-using the monitor. You could also
consider joining the LC to an Apple Talk network and setting up file
sharing so you can link up with another machine. Oh, the fun you'll have!
