I hate to do this, especialy when I know I missed the original message, but
here's my two cents:

-- You can often go a long way by removing the floppy drive and using air
or a small computer vacuum to clean out the dust. The critical points are
along the front edges and under the springs.
-- Repair of drives is, IMHO, inexpensive. Try 1-800-WEFIXMACS That's
1-800-We-Fix-Macs a company named GE computer in Santa Barbara (I think)
they fix drives overnite for around $100. Drive comes back with a
1-year-warrenty. Costs extra to replace the heads.
