Unfortunately there is no one answer.  It depends on your computer and
software.  LM_NET has a resource list of people who can help with various
kinds of software and hardware problems.  (I've lost the address to write
for it...someone??Shelley, stick a note here.)  I can answer some questions
about Microphone LT for the Mac.
