I have been watching the discussion regarding Smoking Night by Eve
Bunting and while I agree the subject matter is difficult, unfortunately
it is a part of the world our children live in. I frequently marvel at
how Eve Bunting is able to bring such difficult subjects to a level we
can then share with younger children. I use her books with children as
young as first grade. While the concepts may be difficult to deal with
alone, I do feel children benefit from sharing then with adults. Perhaps
her books couldhelp create a more careing world.
