LM_NETTERS, you will recall the request for the name of your favorite
book from childhood and the reason for this choice. Here's what came of
this request.
On Jan. 30-31 the Texas legislators were treated to a technology fair in
the rotunda of the state capitol. Many instructional products were
demonstrated and here is a quote from our local newspaper, the Austin
American-Statesman, about one of the demonstrations.
"Nine-year-old Darlissa McCracken, a fourth grader at Samuel Houston
Elementary School in Huntsville, showed off 180 letters she and her
classmates received from people in 29 states and two countries. The
letters were responses to computer messages her class sent out asking
people to name their favorite childhood books. The students tracked
responses on a map and created charts and graphics rating the books and
countries.
"It's so much fun because yoou get to learn about things you don't know,
Darlissa said."

Thanks for your participation. You may have made an impact for good for
the students in Texas.
