I have two classes of freshmen coming in to do research on the times,
situations, etc., portrayed in Harper Lee's _To Kill a Mockingbird_. Their
teacher has given them pretty much carte blanche as far as subjects: prisons
in Alabama in the 30s, reform school, African American churches, "footwashing
Baptists," etc., and she wonders if there's any place on the 'net that we
could find information. The objective of the project is to find as many
sources as they can find--at this point that's more important to her than the
information itself. Can anyone make any suggestions? Also, she's curious
about information on Harper Lee, who seems to be a sort of "phantom author"
who , some say, didn't even finish the novel. (There is talk that Truman
Capote wrote the last chapter???) Anything you can suggest between now and
Friday 3/3 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Betsy Stine
