satiric christmas letter

Does anyone remember reading a take-off on a Christmas newsletter in
which the writer was giving socks, no matter what her children asked
for?  The article may have been by Judith Viorst.  We have a student who
turned in a parody on this type letter and the work she turned in was
too familiar.  Both our Good Housekeeping  and Redbook for Dec. are
missing, so we can't check those.
