evaluating school news show

This is my first year as a media specialist.  Part of my job is to teach
a class in broadcast journalism.  I have no experience in journalism but a
little with video equipment.  We do a 6 minute show each day over closed
circuit TV in which we read the daily announcements and present special
feature segments on various school activities e.g an interview with the
swim team.  I am trying to evaluate the effectiveness of our broadcast
and its impact on the school.  I would like to know if anyone can offer
suggestions on how to go about doing this evaluation.
