Printer problems

Dear netters,

I need some help with an apple laserwriter 300.  The problem is that the
printer is 25 feet away from the computer.  I know that there is not a
problem with the computer hardware or software but when I try to print the
computer can't identify the printer.  Either the cable is bad or the distance
is just too long for the printer signal to travel.  I have no way of checking
either way.  The printer is not an appletalk printer it uses a standard
serial cable.

Can anyone tell me if the cable is just too long or have a way to check the
continuity of the cable?
