?Frog Prince versions

Am interested in different versions of the Frog Prince. In most of the
ones I have located, the girl throws the frog against the wall. Where did
the "kiss a frog...turn into a prince" come from? I have not been able to
locate a version where the girl kisses the frog. Is that another story
entirely?
