Several responses with advice, but only two with sources:  (1) Multicultural
Women's Sourcebook, published in 1982 by the Women's Educational Equity Act
Publishing Center (1-800-225-3088), and (2) Her Way, by Mary-Ellen Siegel.
Appendix A provides almost exactly what I had requested, an list of American
women indexed by ethnicity.  Unfortunately both of these sources are quite
dated.
