HIT>Full-text newspaper CD product

Thanks for your responses to my query about a full-text newspaper-only
product on CD that can be networked.  Here are the results:
"Newsbank" - got by far the most responses for this one. The number
for info is 1-800-762-8182.  Contains 100 U.S. papers and 11 wire
services; networkable with no additional fees, updated monthly, includes
papers such as NY Times, Washington Post, Philadelphia Enquirer.  Now
for the bad news: the cost is $2670 per year w/$50.00 s & h.

"Front Page News" - The number for info is 1-800-282-5628.  Contains
*no* newspapers, but has 30 news services including the Knight-Ridder
service and a Spanish language service; networkable with no additional
fees, updated four times a year.  Cost is $650 per year.

UMI has two products. The number for info is 1-800-521-0600.
1) Newspapers Abstract Ondisk Complete" - Contains 9 major papers,
e.g.Atlanta Constitution, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Christian
Science Monitor, LA Times, NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington
Post, USA Today; is networkable, updated monthly.  Cost:$1995.00.
2)"National Edition" - contains fewer papers but has Christian
Science Monitor, NY Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington
Post; updated monthly.  Both of these products need at least
1 mg RAM with 4 recommended, a color monitor, and at least 10 mg
of free hard space. Cost for the "National Edition" is $1620.00

I will try all three, but it is obvious that you get what you pay
for.  If any of you have any thoughts to add, would really appre-
ciate hearing from you.  This will be a hard budget decision for
me to make, as I will need to trim my book budget to accommodate
this addition.  Again, thanks for you responses.  You are all
great.  Why am I not surprised?
