Hi, I am going to meet with a faculty committee to discuss introducing flexible scheduling next year. We are a K-5 building. I would like to hear from fellow Library media specialists about your sucesses and failures with flex scheduling and perhaps some words of encouragement. What has worked for you? We have 450 students, two classes of bilingual Spanish in grades K-3, two English classes at these levels and 3 integrated classes in each of 4th and 5th grades. In addition to the traditional schedule of each class in the Library 1x a week I also teach all the compter classes K-5, 1x a week for 30 minutes. As you can see the entire week is a rigid schedule and it wil be difficult to convince the classroom teachers to flexxxxxx. Any ideas?? I would really like to have the time to teach the skills necessary for information literacy - but with these relentless numbers and lockstep scheduling - it has been difficult. I also cannot meet with the teachers during the school day as my class is often their break time. Hope to hear from you soon. I think the net is really great - I have enjoyed reading and answering sometimes too. Send answers to me. I will compile if there is a good response. Thanks.
