At the ALA Mid-Winter meeting in Philadelphia, the Affiliate Assembly of AASL will be discussing how to implement the resolution passed at the Affiliate Assembly meeting in Miami, which concerned "collecting and disseminating information identifying sites in each state where telecommunications technology is being integrated effectively into the K-12 curriculum through teacher/library media specialist collaborative efforts." Anna Fay Campbell, (Region 4 [Southeast] Affiliate Coordinator), and I, Barbara Wallace (Region 3 [Midwest] Affiliate Coordinator), are responsible for organizing discussion on the following questions: 1) What kind of information about telecomunications programs would be useful to you? What questions need to be asked? 2) How and to whom should the information be disseminated after it is gathered? 3) How can we identify and locate exemplary telecommunications programs in schools throughout the country? If you have comments on any of these questions, we would be happy to hear from you, especially if you are from one of the states with a small school library-media association that finds it difficult to send representatives to the national ALA conferences. Please send your comments before February 3 to me at BarbaraW6@aol.com or Barbara Wallace, Bacon Memorial District Library, 45 Vinewood, Wyandotte MI 48192. The Affiliate Assembly is the gathering of the leaders of all the state school library-media associations, but any AASL member is welcome to attend. This year's caucus will take place Sunday, February 5, from 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM at the Doubletree Hotel. We also hope that all AASL members at the conference will attend the AASL Candidates Forum on Saturday, February 4, at 5:30 PM, followed by the Affiliate and Membership Issues Forum from 6:30 - 7:30, at the Marriott Grand Ballroom. You will have the chance to meet the current AASL officers and next year's candidates. The Membership Issues time will give you an opportunity to meet in regional groups with the president and delegates from your own state association plus those of nearby states to discuss current hot topics in your area .
