One of our eighth grade language arts teachers is looking to broaden the focus of a literature unit which has normally focused on the literature of the Holocaust. The students would be reading anything in which discrimination is a major theme. The Drowning of Stephan Jones, To kill a mockingbird, Let the circle be unbroken come to mind but we are looking for other areas as well, religion, sexism, ageism, etc. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
