Dear LM_NETTERS, In our middle school fine arts classes we do multimedia projects using Linkway. Students write research papers, do their own artwork, and also digitize art work from CD-Rom and videodisk programs that we own. Students do a bibliography and give credit to all sources, but we are concerned about copyright issues. Can anyone tell us whether a bibliography is sufficient for a student project like this? We can quote from a book . . . is including a famous piece of work in a paper the same as a quote? Does it make a difference whether it's in a paper or a multimedia project on disk? Does it make a difference that the student project is not for commercial purposes? Does it make a difference if we make a copy of the program on the student's disk for his portfolio? Thanks for your help. Susan O'Neil, School Library Media Specialist Byron Middle School, Byron, IL 61010 815/234-5491x267 sjoneil@sinnfree.sinnfree.org
