On January 25 LaWanda Dale wrote: I need some assistance from LM_Netters. I need to purchase some new cassette recorders for Grades K-3. I have purchased Superscope, Eiki, Bell & Howell, and Panasonic in years past and have found that they are not holding up well for young children and teachers to use... Thanks LM_Netters for the 30+ responses. I have compiled a summary of the responses I received. I was surprised at the results. Discount Stores ie. Wal.Mart, K-Mart, Best Buys came in by far as the first place . Sony and RCA were highly recommended. Esp. Jam Boxes. Several expressed their reasoning for purchasing from discount stores was the replacement warranty. No repair bills. Just simply return the equipment and pick up a new one. Sharp Heavy duty models ie. RD 661 and RD 667 came highly recommended. Next under Sharp Recorders came Califone. No exact model numbers were given but one responded with a price range of around $160.00. Panasonic and Eiki were mentioned by one response each. Several people responded with advise on which recorders they have tried and were not having good luck with young children. Those were: Audiotronics - again no specific model number was mentioned. Bell & Howell, Eiki and Panasonic - no specific m odel numbers were given. A special thanks to those of you who took the time to respond to my inquiry. I do hope I haven't offended anyone who are promoters of a specific recorder. I have tried to objectively report the results of my request.
