Here is the announcement for the other new list just starting that I
mentioned before. From the responses I received, there seems to be quite
a bit of interest in this. -kevin

Leukemia, Lymphoma, Myeloma Support Mailing List

Announcing the Hem-Onc Listserv Mailing list!

This is an unmoderated discussion list for patients, family, friends,
researchers, and physicians to disucss clinical and non-clinical issues
and advances pertinent to Hemolytic Cancers including Leukemia, Lymphoma,
and Multiple Myeloma. It includes patient experiences, psychosocial
issues, new research, clinical trials, and discussions of current
treatment practices and alternatives. The principal focus is expected
to be information and reassurance for patients and loved ones and gain
information which is often hard to find.

When you subscribe to this listserv you will get a copy of every message
sent by all the other subscribers because they will be forwarded by a
central computer for quick, electronic distribution to everyone on the
list. Anyone may join, and it is free to use - there are no fees. Also,
the list is run entirely by volunteers.

How to SUBSCRIBE to the Hem-Onc list:

1) Send electronic mail to this e-mail address:

       Listserv@sjuvm.stjohns.edu

2) Leave the Subject line blank (or type a period if your software
   requires something there)

3) Place the following message in the body of the mail:

subscribe hem-onc First-Name Last-Name

Hem-Onc will be sent in "digest" form daily. This means each day you will
receive only a single email including all the messages for that day. It
might be small if there are few messages, or large if there are lots of
messages. After you subscribe, if you prefer, you can change your
subscription to receive each mail item individually. Full details on
how to subscribe, digests, and other features such as access to archives
and other functions of the Hem-Onc list will be sent with the
acknowledgement of your subscription.

If you are inclined, please send a message to the list to introduce
yourself, after your subscription starts. This is not required; but it
will make it easier for you to meet people.

If you are unfamiliar with Listserv and want to know what it is:

A listserv is a public or private electronic mailing list. People
who "subscribe" to a listserv ask that their E-Mail addresses be added to
the mailing list. There are thousands of lists on a very wide range of
topics on the Internet. Listserv is a way of sending one notice to many
different people on many different computer systems. Listservs are one of
the more popular ways to disseminate information, share opinions, and get
advice quickly through the Internet.

We look forward to hearing from you!

If you have problems of any kind, you can always reach a human being at
email address:

Hem-Onc-Request@sjuvm.stjohns.edu

In addition, the Hem-Onc listowners are:

Loren Buhle <buhle@rdz.stjohns.edu>,
Barb Lackritz <lackritz@mo.net>,
Kevin Sinclair <Kevin@computer.com>
