Kudos to Madeline Buchanan for taking a pro-active stance on the Pocahontas movie. We all know that our staying away from the movie will not keep millions of parents from taking their kids to see it on a hot summer day. Unfortunately, I didn't think of doing what Madeline did! Maybe on the net we can come up with a revised version of her strategy to use come September. The insidious thing about the Disney movies is that the little kids believe that the Disney version is the "right one." If you don't believe me, try to convince one of them that the Little Mermaid did NOT marry the handsome guy, but rather became the foam on the sea. The fact that HCA, the author, wrote it that way has no impact at all on the little guys. I even showed them the original story and read them the end. They were really annoyed with me! They saw it in the movie and that's that! In the Pocahontas situation, this is truly disturbing and much more serious. Claire Simpson South Valley School K-4 Moorestown NJ Clairesimp@aol.com
