Our library has some computer money we would like to direct
towards a scanning operation. At the moment we operate a clipping
service for 15 libraries, clipping and copying articles relating to
Native peoples (copyright all cleared).

We have OPAC software that can "call up" graphic images (GIFF files,
I believe). I would like to see us distribute diskettes (and later a
CD-ROM summary) of the articles we deal with. Would save massive
amounts of paper and mailing costs. Also we get an index out of the
deal.

I can't seem to locate research on libraries trying to manage such an
operation, hopefully using conventional flatbead scanning. Any help?
Any experience?
