Got to get my two cents in, too!

History fans, it will be hard to find, but Paul King's trilogy is fantastic!
First book was _The Dreamers_, second was _The Voyagers_, third was
_The Discoverers_. Set in the time of Henry the Navigator and taken from
the angle of four main characters -- a Portuguese boy who is a house servant
for Henry the Navigator and turns sailor, a Venetian merchant sold into
slavery by his brother (slave on a sailing ship), a young English
apprentice turned run-away, and a Chinese eunuch who was master of the
Chinese navy.

Secondly, doesn't anyone read Patricia Cornwell? She writes the most
fantastic murder/suspense books with a female medical examiner.

Third, Barbara Wood does a fantastic job on books with a medical twist.
Golden Urchin set in Australia is terrific, but all her books are!

Don't forget _Chicken Soup for the Soul_ and it's sequel.

Happy Reading!
